Digital Receivers Power a New Generation of Electronic Warfare

Today, however, they face a more difficult job. Terrorists and insurgents tend to use low-tech equipment like commercial cellular phones instead of military-grade radios. They fire antiaircraft missiles from mobile launchers instead of from fortified bunkers. Designers have reacted to the new threat with a major technology change -- they are using digital radar receivers instead of analog units. Read more
